While the event was around human trafficking, so much of what was shared was relatable to my own journey as a woman. I would often forget that they were speaking about human trafficking, while also learning so much and debunking my own thoughts of what I thought human trafficking was and how it could impact individuals.
I work with many victims of sexual abuse–primarily women. This event helped me gain perspective and compassion for their trauma. I am integrating what I learned here into that work.
After seeing this show, I took on a commitment to educating my daughter whenever she is ready (she is 6 now) and show her these talks.
I learned I am not so different from the speakers, and the lessons they learned and shared can apply to me as well. Like, being able to go through painful emotions rather than avoid them.
